here it is.. the follow up video to my UltraRunning Video that has been viewed on vimeo and youtube over 30,000 times. 2009 was a great year, but one in which i did not race once. i crewed. i paced. i cheered. i attended races to soak up the energy, to be reminded what determination looks like and to appreciate the athlete's sacrifice. the following video is the footage i took in 2009. special thanks goes out to all those that put up with me stopping and video taping you on the trail. i truly appreciate that.. thank you.
Cool and inspiring. Coincidentally, after hearing that Killers' song in the '08 Olympics Nike commercial "Courage," I had "I've got soul but I'm not a soldier." stuck in my head for most of the 28 hours I spent finishing Leadville that summer. So, this video basically won me over as soon as I heard the opening pings of the song. Thanks for sharing. And if you are interested in a January Caribbean Ultra check www.stcroix50.com for next year's date announcement later this week. -Matt
Super vid...as usual! Tip notch. I suppose I should point out that you did actually race at least once in 2009. Perhaps you've blocked it out of your memory, but Team SUC+ will not soon forget your massive paddling effort mere days post-op at Mountains to Sound!
Hi Matt! I LOVE your recap! It gave me goose bumps and now I want to go run again! You do a fantastic job with your videos! It was great to finally meet you in the Tetons! Take care!
Sweet, Matt - you're setting up to be on everyone's annual calendar for the year's video! Great work, it obviously took a lot of time to put together. How are you going to get 2010's film when you will be back running? We can look forward to lots of jerky handheld, I guess :-) - bruce
Another reminder of why I don't care about my insignificant paychecks. As long as there is an amazing run to blow my monies on, I'll be content. See ya on the trails!
I'm an ultra distance athlete who incessantly seeks out backcountry adventure. I'm an UltraRunner by trade, but I'm a multisport athlete at heart. Ski mountaineering in the winter, trail running and cycling in the summer. After 10 years in Seattle I moved to Salt Lake City because the Wasatch Mtns are simply amazing. I'm from New Hampshire originally, where I learned to "Live Free or Die". In December of 2005 I decided my desk job at Microsoft was in fact death... so i quit. I've been gettin' after it in the backcountry full time ever since. In December of 2005 Matt left his job at Microsoft to pursue his dream and race full time.

Awesome, Matt. Thanks!
Love it! For not racing a whole year, you still got to see and capture a lot of big events!
Looking forward to next year's video and some footage of Meissner in his pink vest with a Prefontaine stache.
Ths just gets better and better with each viewing. Well done!
Love it! Thanks for another great inspirational video--to watch over and over and over.
Great - now another song I would otherwise not listen to has has found its way onto my running playlist. Thanks for the post, nice editing in the vid.
