Me and Brigham Young

i agree with brigham young on at least one thing.. no, not the plural wives thing. when he looked out over the salt lake valley he said "this is the place". since moving here to salt lake city and surveying my new playground i've thought that many times.. like when i saw this yesterday.

or this...

ok so i'm not racing in the grindstone 100 miler that starts tomorrow (good luck krissy - she's my pick for the win). my neuroma kept me from running a meaningful step all of september. after the transrockies it flared and that was it. shooting pain in the ball of foot and toes every step.
long story short. when i was in seattle i saw a great podiatrist and started the alcohol injection treatment i cried about a while back. monday i picked that treatment up with dr. petron here at the university of utah. he gave me another shot. i was able to run tuesday and again yesterday. i have mild pain in the toes now but it's "manageable", with no shooting pain. more protective shoes (montrail hardrock
moving here to salt lake city (slc) was good for temporarily keeping my mind off running. but i'm totally and completely in awe of this terrain and there is only so much i can do on a road bike.

"The Place" indeed. I was running the Crest Trail with a friend who moved here from So. Africa. I took a tumble, and while I was collecting myself, he grabbed me by the arm and said, "Can you believe we bloody live here!?!" Yup... I have to pinch myself sometimes. But... shhh!!! Don't let word get out!!!
dude, you need to get yourself hooked up with *one* wife, let alone multiples ;-)
it's an awesome place there, no doubt. the lack of rain DEFINITELY sounds good!! even if it means eight feet of snow in the winter.
glad you're taking it all in and enjoying life.
Good luck with the foot kid!!
It IS the place. I so long to be back there. It is paradise to me. Give me SLC or PC over DC any day!
What kind of metatarsal pads are you finding helpful? My Montrail Continental Divides are good, but I find I need to put some type of padding in the Hardrock for my forefoot area.
thats not the best thing about slc, wait until you get your hands on some fire proof underwear!

the dr gave me a metatarsal pad to stick on my montrail insoles. not sure of the brand. i will take a photo and post it at some point.
Great. Would like to see the metatarsal pad. When I searched the internet I found some that looked like a silicone pad and some others that were more cup shaped that you stick to your sole, which sounds like what you have. Do they stay stuck? How often do you need to replace them? Hope you heal up soon.
Don't let it get you down Hart!! You are going to back to your speedy running self soon, in the meantime focus on what you CAN do and embrace it, baby. Ride that steel steed, ride!!

Great shots man, glad you are getting back on your feet again!

Hey you Rock Star! Look at the following you're developing on the blog! Proud of you for chasing your dreams! Big hugs from soggy Vancouver USA!
And you haven't even made it (from the looks of the blog) to the Southern parts of the state yet. There is so much beauty there. In the spring when the snow melts you have to run Timpanogas, its fantastic scenery.
